Dancin' Oxford Dance Taster Workshops
Sunday 1st March in the Hall

As part the annual Dancin' Oxford Spring Festival, Summertown Arts is proud to be hosting a day of introductory workshops covering many different dance styles. This is the ideal opportunity to try a whole range of new techniques and ways of expressing yourself.


10am to 10.45am - Kathak with Drishti Dance
11am to 11.45am - Contemporary with Joelle Pappas
12pm to 12.45pm - Swing Dance with Swing Dance Summertown
1.30pm to 2.15pm - Ballet with Susie Crow
2.30pm to 3.15pm - Zumba with George Martini
3.30pm to 4.15pm - Chinese Dance with Olivia Chen

£5 per Session - Pay on the Door (cash or card)

Beginners' Oil Painting and Pastel Workshop
Wednesday 4th March - 10.30am to 3pm in the Hall

Another opportunity to work with popular local artist and tutor, Cathy Landell Mills to explore how to work with oil paints or pastels.  

Choose whether to work on a still life, a landscape or a portrait and learn the necessary steps to create a work of art in a day.

All materials provided.

Prototype - New Plays in Oxford
Monday 16th March 7.30-9.30pm in the Church

Another in this popular series. Prototype is a regular evening of new writing in Oxford. Each night features script-in-hand rehearsed readings of new 10-minute plays from some of Oxford's most talented playwrights, and a brand new short play from an established playwright.

March’s edition features work from Niall Carmody, Anthea Dobry, Heather Dunmore, Liz Pagett, James McDougall.

Prototype is produced by Mike Bartlett and Alex Coke. It is a not-for-profit event: all ticket proceeds go to the room hire and and other finances of the night.

Creation Theatre - GCSE Revision 1-Day Workshops 
Boost GCSE revision with this interactive and practical workshop. Working with an experienced education facilitator and theatre director you will explore the plays characters, context, structure and key themes through a wide range of drama based activities. By engaging with the play as a live, performed text, students will deepen their understanding of the play, learn quotes and build a practical set of skills and ideas that will support their GCSE study and exams.

Creation Theatre Poetry Readings

Creation Theatre is delighted to be continuing their monthly poetry nights at Summertown Arts in 2026. Take the time to gather, listen to some brilliant writing and catch up with Oxford’s vibrant literary community.

New Drawing Dance Workshops
Tuesday 24th March - 10.30am to 4.30pm in the Hall
Saturday 28th March - 3pm to 6pm in the Hall

Continuing the series of drawing dance sessions at Summertown Arts this month will give artists two opportunities to fully immerse themselves in the testing challenge of engaging with continuous movement in an energetic environment.

Tuesday Dancers: Liam Woodvine and Julia Skar 
Ballet and Contemporary techniques
Cost for this full day session will be £60.

Saturday Dancers: Kavya Iyer and Karishma Young 
Combining Classical Indian Dance (Bharatanatyam) with Ballet and Contempary techniques
Cost for this half day session will be £35.  

The money raised will cover the cost of the dancers fees and the hire of the space. 

The sessions are better suited for artists with at least some experience of drawing the figure. We do not offer tuition but friendly tips are available to all in the breaks.

The Laugh Room by Super Being Arts 
Friday 27th March - 8pm in the Church (doors at 7.30pm)
Every last Friday of every month - Summertown Arts will have a comedy night: a line-up of brilliant comics, and the perfect way to unwind after a long week. 

Acts this month include: Stuart Laws is headlining and he's supported by Damian Bamrah, 2 other acts and MC Darshan Sanghrajka.
